Fr. Jonas dies in Brazil

Fr. Jonas was a very well known figure in the Diocese of Bissau. He was the parish-priest of Our Lady of Help (Nossa Senhora de Ajuda), one of the eight parishes in the capital Bissau. He was also the principal animator of the Charismatic Movement in the Diocese.
His death caught everybody with surprise.  He had gone to Brazil for a short holiday under the invitation of some friends. He said he felt a little tired and needed a rest. Last sunday he went  to the seaside with a group of friends and entered the sea. He didn't realize the current was taking him away. He started shouting for help; immediately, the beach guardians set out to give him help. It was too late: his body was floating on the water, the head reclining back.
Fr. Jonas was a very kind, humble, simple and generous person. May his soul rest in God's peace.
